The Voice
P. Jonathan Porterfield, a latchkey child, was born to Gertrude and Eugene Porterfield in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Porterfield grew up in the church, where he began learning music. He had a love for God, but the lack of a father produced a desire for him to help his mom financially, and he turned to the streets.
While on the streets of Philadelphia, he connected with gang members and was initiated into gang life. After a major gang war, he became a junior warlord. He always possessed a leader's mind.
Being warned by God of the devil's plan to kill her son, his mother, now herself a preacher, moved to New Haven, Connecticut. It was here that his pursuit of God led him into ministry. He was always different and couldn't accept the norms of the church.
Growing up in the '60s, '70s, and the ensuing years, Dr. Porterfield saw a lot of things that affected his heart and gave him a love for disenfranchised men. When elevated in the church to the sacred office of the Bishop, he felt the call to write. He has penned Protocol to Prayer and has completed his rewrite of When a Black Man Cries. Both books are thought-provoking and are a call to change.
He is currently the presiding Prelate of The Body of Christ Ministries Worldwide Kingdom Fellowship of Churches, with a mandate from God to mature the Church and prepare it for its growth into the Kingdom of Heaven in this earth realm.
